Netherlands 13 March 2023 – Last Saturday during NLdoet, community managers of Rockfield and tenants of The Cohesion volunteered to organise activities at various locations. In doing so, community members of The Cohesion showed how much fun volunteering can be and that it matters.
Initiatives
In Amsterdam, community managers and tenants got to work at Amsta. Together, they provided a 3-course dinner for nearly 40 mentally disabled young people. After the banquet, the feet were off the floor with a well-organised disco. In Rotterdam, community members joined community centre the Bollenpandje in Delfshaven. There, community centre visitors had the idea of turning the square in front of the door into a little garden. Tiles out, greenery in. No sooner said than done.
Social interaction
That social initiatives and social interaction are important for mental health and livability in living environments we have known for several years. It is at the heart of co-living for us. Living concept The Cohesion is fully geared to this social interaction. At The Cohesion, the social aspect does not stop at the building, but the tenants in the building are equally active residents of the neighbourhood. By actively participating in the neighbourhood, we ensure that people from all layers of society get to know each other better.
