Start of construction of residential icon HIGHnote in the center of Almere

Area developer AM and Rockfield Real Estate will give the go-ahead for the construction of HIGHnote in Almere on Monday June 7. The iconic building that is being realized in the city center of Almere will contain 157 apartments, including 66 Friends homes, a plinth with communal facilities and commercial spaces, a catering facility and various semi-public outdoor spaces. Earlier this year AM sold the project to one of the Rockfield Real Estate funds. HIGHnote responds to the great need of starters and young internationals for apartments in the center of Almere.

Reinforcement of liveliness in the center of Almere

HIGHnote meets both the great demand for city center living and Almere's ambitions to further enhance the attractiveness and vibrancy of the city center in the coming years. With the future vision of Almere Centrum called 'the eternally young city centre', Almere Centrum is working on a lively mix of meeting, studying, living and working for Almere and the region.

Friends concept: living together with your own facilities

HIGHnote is a nineteen-storey residential building with 157 rental apartments varying in size and price. Of the apartments, 115 are offered in the medium-priced rent and 42 in the private sector. 66 apartments will be realized as Friends homes* with living areas of approximately 65 m2 to 100 m2. All apartments have a balcony. Both AM and Rockfield are early adopters of the Friends concept, which aims to make living in a prime location affordable and comfortable.

The apartments were sold to Rockfield Real Estate early this year and will be managed by The Cohesion coliving. Rockfield is an expert in the field of co-living, student housing and mid-price rental in urban environments in the Netherlands.

Completion is expected in 2023. The design is by the architect studio Studioninedots and construction is in the hands of Heddes Bouw & Ontwikkeling.

Efficient building process with ready-to-use facade

Careful preparation and intensive collaboration with Heddes as a builder and its partners has resulted in the choice for ready-made facade elements. So-called prefab sandwich elements will be used for HIGHnote, which are fitted with frames and glazing before they arrive at the construction site. Each apartment is provided with a balcony with balustrade, which are also mounted to the elements before placement. This efficient construction method ensures that the facade is ready in one go and that work can be done without scaffolding.

HIGHnote gives substance to the 'inclusive city' and the need for affordable housing. By combining living, working and accommodation functions, HIGHnote is a versatile place in the center. Because young people live, work and recreate here, the place is dynamic and energetic at any time of the day. It stimulates meeting and connection for residents, entrepreneurs and visitors from the immediate vicinity and the center of Almere.
